I keep a list of things I plan to purchased and pursue in life evaluated with a balance between desire and necessity, so I never forget what my goals and guard to keep against becoming parsimonious.
A better word than:
penny-pinching
frugal
miserly
niggardly
stingy
penurious
prudent
